Guide channel select behavior

I've noticed that when using the guide it can behave in two separate ways and it's really frustrating.

1. Press guide on the remote, channel guide opens on TV.
2. Type in a channel example: 300
3. Press center button (ok?)
--- this is where the outcome varies---
4a. Channel guide goes to channel 300, continue using guide.

Or

4b. Station changes to channel 300, guide exits.

I believe the expected behavior should be 4a. Does anyone else experience similar behavior?

Also I've walked through these steps multiple times and I'm positive I've followed the first three steps and have had different outcomes. It's completely unpredictable.

depends on how fast you press the OK button. if only the channel number is seen the 'change to that channel' is executed. as you type, it begins a search process (like HBO but for the numbers pressed). wait until something else appears then hitting ok will stay 'on the guide' as the first choice of channel will cause relocation of the guide to that channel (if the guide is set to a view that the channel appears - for example: all channels).
