Formula 1
I have DVR set to record all practice and qualifying sessions including the race for Formula 1 but the last two weeks, it has not recorded the 3rd practice session or qualifying. This seems to be related to the races being in North America, specifically Texas and Mexico City where the broadcast is through a Local network instead of espn as usual. I check to make sure the recording is valid and it appears so on the menu but these do not record. Is there any reason why?

Hey, @user_f05e4d! Thanks for reaching out to us on the forums! I hope you are doing well. I apologize to hear of the issues you are having with trying to record these races. By chance do you happen to know if you have more than 6 recordings happening around the time for the 3rd practice session? It's possible you don't have any turners available (up to 6) to record these races.

I have the same issue. It seems lately Xfinity "broadcasts" some of the practice sessions and qualification races on the ESPN News channel. I don't have this channel in my cable package. When I try to record the missing events they all look good but because I don't subscribe to ESPN News the DVR does nothing... no warning, very frustrating! This just started in the timeframe you outlined. I hope this goes back to working normally.

Comcast doesn't control which channel the races, practice, and qualifying are on. That's up to ESPN, which is part of Disney. The agreement with the FIA and/or Sky basically forces them to air all the programs, but I assume only the races have to be on primary channels (ABC, ESPN, ESPN2.)

I believe, based on not being able to see Brazil GP qualifying nor the sprint that is related to the timezone where the F1 event is being held. COTA, Mexico City and Interlagos are all relatively local time to the US. Football (the American variety) gets precedence basically...
Why can't we get the same service from Comcast (who I pay my exorbitant bill to) wherever in the world the F1 GP is being held?

Because F1 is just not popular enough in the US. We are getting (mostly) commercial-free Sky Sports that I assume costs extra for non-US viewers. Even NASCAR has had declining ratings for years

What happened to the Xfinity person? No answer so no more responses? Ridiculous to spend this money and miss out on the qualifying, yet again. We have to pay for every streaming service to watch what we want anyway so there is not much reason in having Xfinity tv around anymore.
