FEATURE FIX REQUESTED: HDMI Audio Output
After about 2 years of being disappointed with poor audio/video sync with X1 box connecting to LG OLED TV via HDMI, with optical out to my LG home theater-in-a-box, after playing around with all the audio processing/sync “correction” settings on the TV and home theater system, I finally found the culprit was the XFINITY box: under Settings/Device Settings/Audio/HDMI Audio Output.
It turns out that the Auto Detect mode, at least for my system, has been causing way too much latency for the output audio. Simply switching to Expert Mode took care of the problem.
I would ask “lurking” Comcast employees to pass along my request for putting an additional comment into the menu system that will warn that the Auto Detect feature may lead to exacerbation of AV sync issues. I have found it extremely annoying over this extended period of time to have to constantly change AV sync corrections that would differ depending on which channel or live TV/recording situation was on at the moment.
