Factory reset Xi6-A Companion Box

I have a X16 box I purchased new on ebay from a credible seller. It arrived in as new condition with the original clear plastic covering still attached. I removed it so it could have air flow. Apparently it is not recognizing me and the correct remote isn't working with it either. I believe it is either a firmware issue and needs to be reset to factory default. Would you please help me with this task. I surely would appreciate some guidance. There isn't much info on how to do this online.  this is the Cable Companion Box Xi6-A

You can’t purchase any Xfinity equipment legitimately. Regardless of the type of seller, the equipment belongs to Comcast.

Umm, wait a sec. Doesn't comcast offer these boxes for free to all customers?

And regarding "theft", since you are presumably a comcast subscriber I doubt comcast cares whether you got it from a previous or current customer or directly from them. That is, if the previous customer turned it in and you asked for yours for free, in theory you could get the exact same box. It's a nullity. Though I don't know how or if comcast refurbs these things.

There's a chance comcast needs to know the MAC address or other info from the X16. Call 'em.

Equipment has to be accounted for. And for example, a box from Florida isn’t going to work in Michiga. You are also mixing up the Flex box (free) with an X1 Xi6, essentially the same box with different services attached. At the end of the day, you can only get Comcast cable boxes from Comcast
