Error code: app-04036
When loading Paramount+ app through xfinity x1 cable box the app usually closes without loading fully and presents error code: "app-04036". Otherwise when it does load it often shows error code: "-" which covers the screen while trying to watch any show.

I am getting the same issue and same code with HBO max. It’s happening with a certain movie and then off and on with a couple of other movies.

I am getting the same issue and the same code with HBO max. It won’t work with one certain movie at all, and then off and on with a couple of other movies. This is ridiculous

I got a Flex box 2 days ago. It is hooked to a "dumb" Sharp TV. I have two other TVs that are using Fire Sticks. My problem is with Discovery +. Same symptoms as everyone else and the same 04036 error code. Discovery + works three PCs in the house and the Fire Sticks. On Flex, I get into Discovery + and get to the My List entries. I choose one, and it comes up with the episode to be viewed. I select it, the black screen with the clocking circle comes up, then the screen goes to a very dark blue, then goes to a black screen with a frozen clocking circle, and then the error message. I can watch any other service, like Disney +, YouTube, and Peacock. I've also checked some of the other free apps, and did not have an issue.
I got this box since I cannot get Disney + on Fire (thanks, Comcast). And Comcast Support is a joke, so don't tell me to try them.
Any solutions to this mess???

Something to try. It might work, as my Flex now let's me see Discovery +. This came from Xfinity Support. Unplug the HDMI cable from the Flex box. Wait about 15 seconds, and plug it back in. It worked for me.

I was watching all episodes of Picard and Halo on Paramount+, but I got this error for the first time yesterday. It did not go away after I reset my box.

Like apparently a lot of folks here, I am having the same issue even after running through the trouble shooting steps. What is the point of having a service if you can’t use it. Thinking about canceling xfinity and/or paramount since they can’t fix it. App works great on my phone, just can use it through the cable box.

I totally agree with you. I have been having the same problem, Paramount+ will work on everything I have except my smart TV through the box. I get the code 04036 every time. Now, I can use or watch Paramount+ on my TV by using my computer and a HDMI cable to project it to my TV for viewing movies and shows but that's just a work around .

The HDMI "fix" lasted one day. I kept getting the 04036 error after every show I watched. After the third error, I replaced the Flex with the Stick. The Flex went back to Xfinity. I'll never use that product again.

I’m having the same problem and I can’t get a hold of anybody at Xfinity. It is so frustrating. I’m off this weekend and I want to watch survivor and I can’t

Having the same issue with error app-04036 with paramount plus only. Tried all the fixes on here on xfinity x1 box. Restarting box through settings, rebooting box and modem, clearing cache. Paramount plus is only app with issue. It has worked before on my x1 but this weekend it has started with this issue again (has failed to load before but usually will start after a few tries). This time it continuously fails no success. It partially logs in and starts then hangs and errors out before finishing loading app. App has always been slow but this error even keeping me from using it is ridiculous. App works on my iphone and computer but not bringing a desktop to the living room.

I’ve tried everything from reseting the box to clearing out my locally stored info and trying to log in again. Still getting error code 04036 for Paramount +

I am having the EXACT same issue as every other poster here, and XFinity's response so far has been EXTREMELY insufficient and dismissive. [Edited: "Language"]?
Fix this ASAP (and don't tell me to reboot, restart, or send you an email with my name, yada, yada, yada.) If this is not resolved within 48 hours, then I will be demanding a refund of my Paramount+ fees, and the subscription fees for any other streaming service having the same issue at Paramount+.
I mean, seriously...

Holy cow! I thought it was just me. Paramount + is the ONLY app that doesn't work on xfinity and it's disappointing when I am consistently told "have you tried resetting your modem? have you tried restarting your cable box?" YES OVER AND OVER! IT DOESN'T WORK! I tried contacting Paramount and they quickly lost interest because obviously it is not their app.
Unfortunately I can see no work around for this other than canceling Paramount or canceling xfinity and going with regular streaming.
