Equipment "Upgrade"

I recently received a message from Xfinity that it was time to upgrade my cable box. I box I was sent is the same model as the old box - XG2v2. The only difference is that the old box had a -S suffix (Samsung) and the "new" box has a -P suffix (Pace). There seems to be no difference in the performance, so what was the point of swapping out the equipment? Does the Pace box do something that the Samsung box does not?

The Pace has access to the new CBS All Access app, Samsung model doesn’t. It may be the direction of other apps in the future, so they may want them out of circulation

Could it be related to equipment lifecycle policies? It would be nice to think that Comcast has asset management enough to maybe know when your machine is getting old, and to change it out before being problematic...

The other might be the differences in the chipsets of Samsung and Pace, vulnerabilities in the Samsung version, etc.

Hey, just flinging it out there but sincerely trying to help.
