I have a new cable box and now when I watch a show as I am recording it I cannot back up past the point that I started to watch.

Hello @abqannie, thanks for reaching out! We definitely want you to have the full Xfinity experience, and that includes being able to enjoy your shows exactly how you want to! Does this happen on every recording? Have you tried any troubleshooting? If not, try rebooting the box, unplug your Xfinity cable box for a minute, then plug it back in and let it fully restart. Try recording a show, to see if it's resolved.
