DVR Watching Recorded Show

While watching a recorded sporting event, I often fast forward fairly frequently through the game. I've noticed, especially with the current cable box as compared to the previous version, that it is much slower to react to my remote control requests. In addition, it gets confused very often, and even sometimes goes back to the beginning of the recorded show, leaving me with having to locate where I was when the error occurred. It also seems to gradually get worse and worse over time, leading me to believe that there is a memory leak. It gets so bad at times that I have to reboot the cable box. This is not an unusual circumstance. As I said, it is worse with this newest model of the cable box versus the older model of the cable box I previously had. Is there any way to demonstrate this to somebody so that they can fix what appears to be mostly a software issue?

Was this an NFL game? if so, then the reason you are having problems is because you are watching the cloud version

which Xfinity has forced upon you. This has been going on now for 3 years, I have the exact same problems you have

described. It gets so bad for me towards the end of the game I have to do a 4 minute restart-which sorts of lessens the sluggishment.

@tbill1 yes, it was an NFL game. Are you suggesting that other recorded shows are not in the cloud?

But even when watching live TV, the response to the remote control is extremely slow in many cases.

You said you have gotten a new box.  If you got a cloud DVR, then of course everything you record will be cloud.

If you got a DVR with a hard drive, then just NFL and NBA are cloud.

After talking with someone at an Xfinity store, they confirmed that no DVRs are being issued/created anymore that have a hard drive. He also suggested trying an even later model of DVR cable box, which I was not aware existed when, 2 months ago, I got the one that was giving me problems. This model is what they called a 4K model. I installed it yesterday, and watched a couple of football games with the new box, and it seems to have resolved the problems. So either the previous box was faulty, or the new model has resolved the issue.
