DVR shows being ereased almost asoon as they are recorded

My DVR is erasing some shows immediately after recording them, even while leaving two or three older episodes on the DVR. For instance, It would record and remove Jeopardy (within a few minutes) while leaving the three previous days still on the DVR (I set it to record 5 episodes). It does this to various shows quite often. It is supposed to remove older shows to make room for newer ones.  This started a few months ago and sometimes does not occur for a while and then starts doing it regularly.  Tired Restarting and System Reset, but that doesn't help.

Anyone else having this problem. Any solutions?

The more money you pay in cable fees, the more more problems it seems.

Good morning, @udaman54, and thank you for reaching out through our Community Forums for assistance with your DVR recording questions! I love using my DVR to watch my favorite shows on my schedule, so that my kids and hubby can watch what they want, too. I also love skipping through commercials when I'm binge-watching to catch up on a series. You've reached the right place to help get to the bottom of this!

There are a few things that can cause an issue with recordings like you've described, including your cable plan and current DVR service level, your DVR storage level, and the settings you are currently using. To get started, you can find some useful information by visiting https://comca.st/3wjyBgf. If checking your settings and storage space doesn't help resolve this, we can did a little deeper with you. Just let us know, and we'll be glad to help!

@ComcastMacey   Thank you for your reply. I tried the prioritization function in the link you gave, but it doesn't seem to help.  Even though my used storage is  at 80 to 95 per cent, it has always been at that level and even higher without acting this abnormally.  The DVR is currently  erasing almost all the items it records just seconds after it finishes recording the item, even while leaving earlier recordings in the series alone. This seems to be the opposite of how it is supposed to operate (deleting older recordings in the series first). The last few days I have lost almost the entire day's recordings, while previously I had them for at least three to 7 days.

I have two DVRs.  I restarted/rebooted one of them with no effect.

Would appreciate any help. Thanks

Thanks for the additional information you provided @udaman54. We encourage customers to manage their DVR space and keep it under about 75% full. Once it reaches that point it goes into what is called a delete status.

The DVR is built to take into account future recordings and automatically delete content to make space for those new recordings based on your priority list.

One thing to keep in mind with this though is that If you've been setting your recordings to "keep until I delete" then this automatic process cannot clear your DVR to make space and it will either immediately delete new recordings or just not record at all.

Try clearing some space on your DVR and see if that helps with your issue. If you are still having trouble though, please feel free to send us a Live Chat with your first and last name as well as your service address so we can take a closer look at your DVR and its recordings so we can find a solution.

To send a Live Chat, please click on the chat icon on the top right of this page, next to the bell. Make sure to send the message to our singular handle "Xfinity Support" and we will get back to you ASAP.

I no longer work for Comcast.

I've had the same problem for months & I set recordings to keep until I delete. It's so bad I have to take a picture of my scheduled recordings to see what didn't record.

You can tell if it's going to stay if it actually recorded on the DVR, but most of the time it will record only on the cloud, if it's recording only on the cloud it will Auto-Delete 95% of the time.

If it's at least 2hrs long it will almost always record.

It will almost always record only 1 thing, in a row of recordings all on the same channel, IE 7pm will record, 8pm will delete itself, 9pm might record it's iffy.

I have 2 DVR's & I have to check if it's cloud only recording & start watching it & blindly backing it up so it stays on, while watching another on the other DVR so I can see them before they delete.

Several times though I've done this & in the middle oft show an Emergency Broadcast Weekly Test will pop on & poof the recording is gone & it doesn't even show up in deleted recordings.

It's done this no matter how much available space there is, it's done it anywhere from 45% to 90% & I've never seen the need to make room popup since this started.

Hope this might help this get fixed.
