DVR Recording During Home Renovation (Can DVR be Disconnected?)

We will be renovating our home in a couple months and was wondering how we can maintain our DVR planned recordings. We will have to unplug/disconnect most of our electronics for a while. Does the DVR console need to be connected in order for our shows to continue to record? I'm assuming the satellite consoles in other rooms can be disconnected and not impact recordings - is this true?
