DVR Playback Sometimes Doesn't Work on a Couple of My Boxes
Three of my DVR's will sometimes not replay programs I have recorded. I have unplugged them to reset but that doesn't fix the problem. Within a single day, the playback function on the boxes will stop working a couple of times, then, unexpectedly, begin to work again. All the boxes experience DVR playback failure at the same time. Only my main box will continue to play shows back while the others will not. Do I need to swap out the main box for a new one? Does it control the playback on the other sets? If so, is it internet based...do I need a new modem?

The only 'extra' element of my system is an amp somewhere in the ceiling of my basement. I'm hoping not to go anywhere near that. Plus, I made the assumption...always dangerous...that the intermittent nature of the DVR problem means it's more likely to be a failing main box than the wiring or the amp. I told one company tech that I was leaning toward replacing the main box and he thought it would be a good 'first step.' So, I will soon be off to the local Xfinity store for a box swap. Thanks for your reply. I, too, am a Comcast veteran, from the advertising division Spotlight.
