DVR (or something) slow when fast forwarding and rewinding

After getting a new Xfinity DVR we noticed that when watching recorded shows it takes as long as ten seconds after pushing the fast-forward button on the remote for the DVR to respond and start fast forwarding. We also have a secondary set-top box and TV and DO NOT have the issue on that TV. Why would  fast-forward work normally on the secondary TV but not the main TV which is connected to the DVR when they both are playing content from the DVR?  Both TV's use the same kind of remote control. All other functions seem to work okay except for rewinding and especially fast-forwarding. I wonder sometimes if playing recorded shows is actually using my internet connection from the cloud and not the DVR. That would explain slowness because the main TV connected to the DVR is much further away from our wireless Comcast modem than the set-top TV.

Thanks for any suggestions

the 'remote'/set top box is not talking to your home DVR. The box uses its internet connection to relay your button presses to the Comcast 'head-end' (servers) and the server software then tells your DVR to send the program or rewind etc. That said the delay means that the box you are using is having issues in 'pumping' that signal out of your home to comcast's servers. You can test that using the smart device 'tv remote' from xfinity and selecting the TV you are controlling with the remote. then select the little TV icon to select the x1 set top box to control, then when 'done' press the little joy stick icon. there are 3 tabs on that screen you can try playing a show/navigating the menu on the screen using that app instead of the remote. notice how fast it is? it is going through your internet directly to same head-end servers and will have no lag. long story short, you may have a bad splitter, in wall connection, hook up cable between the wall and that set top box or something similar like a bad connection on a splitter that causes that signal to be very weak that goes out from your home to comcast.
