dvr not working correctly

My dvr will only record 1 show at a time. I'm supposed to be able to record 6 simultaneously, but if I try recording 2 at the same time, I get a conflict notice and one won't record.

Hey there, user_61rtu2 thanks for reaching out! Sounds like you have live cable and recorded shows tying up your tuners. How many cable boxes do you have running at once when you try to record?

Thanks for responding. We have 4 cable boxes, but no more than 2 on at any one time.

Gotcha! If you have all 3 powered off and you try to record more than one show do you still get the error message?
