DVR boxes conflicting with each other?

We have 3 new DVR boxes having been forced by Comcast to update before June 2 or lose DVR and on demand.  Now if we schedule a recording on one box the previously scheduled recording disappears from the other box.  Have spent ~ 10 hours on phone and one tech visit - he threw up his hands and said it’s the system I can’t help.

I don't know if this will help at all (we are very new to X1), but I just found that we can play with some settings with these selections : Xfinity button>Settings>Preferences>General>Display Recordings On

It says "Set your device to display all recordings on your account or only those on a certain device" 

So if you're not already doing this, maybe you could have each device with it's own recordings?

and do you really need to have three dvr boxes instead of 1 dvr and 2 companion boxes?
