Does XiOne-SC(B) box replace the XG 2v2-P Box?

I was prompted to order the XiOne box to upgrade my existing XG 2v2-P but the Xi instructions say to leave the Primary TV box activated. Does the XiOne replace the old box or is it just an additional component to run beside the old TV box?

Hi user_7aafwg, thanks for taking the time to post here on the forums! The XG2 is not necessary for the XiOne to function, so you can replace it completely, if you'd like! You can find more information about our wireless boxes on the X1 Wireless TV Box FAQs page.

The XG1-P has audio outputs that connect to a sound system. The XiOne-SC does not. Wouldn't I be better off just staying with the XG1P? What does the XiOne-SC provide that the XG1-P doesn't?

@user_54lfkn We always want our customers to feel comfortable with the equipment they use. If you prefer the XiOne due to the features it has you can certainly keep it. Here's a link with a list of the boxes we have and support https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/x1-hub-vs-companion-box

The XiOne only has an HDMI output, no optical or coax for audio.  People with sound systems connect the X1 to their AVR and send video to the display from there.  Or they use the display's digital audio output to pass through sound from the TV.

The XiOne is a 4K box using WiFi or ethernet to get the content and HDMI to send it to the AV equipment.
