Difference between X1 boxes

I don't have a 4k tv.  If I get an older X1 box with a clock display, will I notice a difference in the performance or experience of the X1 box?  Thanks.

Hi @user_eff875, Thanks for reaching out to our community for questions about our cable boxes.  Depending on the box you can experience many differences such as DVR vs Non-DVR, the ability to pause and rewind live TV, recordings and Xfinity On Demand programs. Depending on your area the older boxes may or may not be available. May I ask the reason for wanting an older box?

I was told by xfinity they no longer have any cable boxes with a clock display.

Maybe you can come up with a clock to put by the cable box (that is what we did).

@user_e1d32a said "I was told by xfinity they no longer have any cable boxes with a clock display."

Whoever told you this is either lying or just plain ignorant.  Last week I went to my local Comcast store and exchanged a pre-X1 cable box for a pair of non-DVR X1 boxes that both had clock displays. The "pair" was because the first box would not complete the auto-setup process and needed to be returned that same day for a 2nd box that did work.  Though, as I have discovered,  "working" and "X1" are antonyms because X1 seldom works well and certainly not fast.

I like the clock display and don't want to get a separate clock.  The x1 box would be a dvr box.

Would a separate box in the bedroom have the same voice remote with the ability to record and pause and rewind live TV?  Thanks.

@user_eff875 it works that way for me.  I now have a XG1v4-A as the main dvr box with a XiD-P in the bedroom.

That is a great question, and yes if you have a partner X1 device in another room. You can get an award-winning Xfinity voice remote for the compatible box, that also allows you to pause, rewind, and fast-forward: https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/x1-guide-pause-rewind-fast-forward-live-tv.

In regard to recordings, that would need to be done off the primary DVR set-top box, but the companion X1 does have the wonderful capability of being able to watch any of the saved recordings you have. There is also the great option of being able to schedule a DVR recording through the Xfinty App at any time as well: https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/x1-xfinity-tv-app-schedule-a-recording.
