Codes for "off brand" TV

I have a Supersonic TV in my kitchen that I'd like to connect to an XG2 box (XR15 remote). I found this year-old thread:

https://forums.xfinity.com/conversations/accessibility/remote-to-supersonic-tv/602daed3c5375f08cdf73731

about it being an off brand TV that doesn't have a code. Well, it does have multiple 5 digit codes and it is listed on the Select Your Brand pairing screen but selecting Supersonic brings up Westinghouse on the next screen. I feel like if the box knows about the brand but doesn't have the codes, it should at least ask for the codes. Is there some combination of button pressing that will let you enter the codes manually?

PS: I did try the instructions here: https://www.xfinity.com/support/remotes but long pressing the Xfinity+Mute buttons until the red changes to green, it just brings up the same bottom banner as just pressing Xfinity. The mute button turns green but it doesn't change the banner and trying to enter numbers does nothing. I tried it on my other 3 working XG2 TVs, too, and same thing. Mute alone does mute.

@ComcastMorgan - That didn't work for me. I did find some other instructions in the forum that did work. I was searching for "Supersonic" but there are quite a few posts for other brands. I'll repeat what worked for me instead of posting links to all of the others.

With TV turned on:

1. press A+D (until Red led turns Green)

2. enter 991   (led flashes Green)

3. press & release "Channel Up" until TV turns off. (this took me many presses)

4. press the Center (OK) button to lock-in the code (This step was missing from a lot of posts!)

5. Power turned on the TV and Volume and Mute worked.

Steps 2 & 3 are the same as pairing a remote that has a setup key. Maybe some of the other slightly different instructions would work, too, but this is what worked for me.

Thank you for sharing @my-screen-name! It can definitely be a bit tricky with certain third-party brands of electronics. We'll use this feedback and information to improve our processes and devices moving forward.

Hi there, my-screen-name. We certainly appreciate your effort in trying to work through the remote pairing process. We're here to help! I just want to confirm that with the box that you want to put in the kitchen with the Supersonic TV, the mute button works, but the volume up/down and the power on/off for the TV does not. Is that correct? I would focus more on the remote than what you're seeing on the TV screen when you're going through this particular pairing process, otherwise it can be misleading.

Please try this process when you have time:

To use your XR15 remote to control your TV (including power, volume and input):

  1. While the TV is on, press and hold the Xfinity and Mute buttons on the remote together for five seconds until the remote light at the top changes from red to green.
  2. Enter 10178. As the code is entered, the remote light will blink on each digit entered.
    • Valid code = remote light blinks green twice
    • Invalid code = remote blinks red, then green
  3. Aim the remote at the TV and press the Power button.
    • If the TV turns off, turn the TV back on and verify that the Volume and Mute buttons work.

Any luck? Did that work?

Hopefully I'll get the time to try this again this weekend. My HD-DTA is working OK on this TV for now. I wanted to switch all TVs to X1 because some of the channels we watch apparently moved to IP and don't show on the DTA. I moved the X1 box & XR15 from another TV just to see if the box would work on the Supersonic and what I thought would take a few minutes turned into hours of frustration. Fortunately the XR15 pairs smoothly with its current "on-brand" TV .

I'll let you know how it goes. Thanks for the info.

If you were interested in upgrading to the amazing X1 cable boxes we can definitely help you out with that! I know I would be lost without my voice remote, I don't even know what channels or streaming services my favorite shows are on anymore because I just say what I'm looking for and it pulls right up.
