Channels not working on DTA box

So, I have a little DTA (HD-uDTA-M) from Xfinity. For some reason my Preferred + channels dont work on it but those channels work fine on X1. I was told once that that kind of box doesn’t support Preferred + channels but my friend has the EXACT SAME box and same Preferred (Could also be Premiere but i dont know) and his channels all work fine. Any help?

Can’t make a comment on your neighbor but DTAs only go up to Starter. There are DTAs that look like X1 boxes

adding, on many plans a DTA is more expensive than an X1 companion ($5)

I know for a fact my friends box is a dta, the model of his box even has DTA in the name. HD-uDTA-M (HD-DTA100u) and it has the exact same guide, menus, and everything. Also if these boxes didnt support these channels, why even have them show up in the guide? or atleast why do they show "Not Authorized" instead of a message saying the box doesnt support that channel?

any two way communication is not possible for a DTA. the DTA is more expensive now than an X1 companion or than the free Roku device use on a TV. DTA is very old technology for presenting digital video on a non digital device, the HD version just adds same function via HDMI. they are not equivalent. why use something made for previous generations of TV today?

You left out the part about “not authorized” on the channels In your original post, if that’s the case it’s a rate code issue on the equipment

yeah, when I go to those channels it shows up with NOT AUTHORIZD and status code 580. If it's a rate code issue, how do I fix that?

Customer service, they have to look at your account and equipment rate codes etc

oh and by the way X1 companions cost $9.95 a month, the DTA's only cost $6.99. the DTA is cheaper than the X1 box.

depends on plan (old ones) in effect. new pricing is lower in most of the country now.
