Cannot get wifi connection to Samsung smart tv.

You might have to lower the security settings on the firewall in your Comcast gateway. I had to do this for my brother before his Samsung would connect.

The cable box has nothing to do with your tv and it's WiFi connection. As suggested either look at firewall setiings or see if you can attach with say a pgone hotspot to eliminate the tv itself
