Can you use streaming apps on x1 box without xfinity internet — I have fiber from att.

I just got fiber internet service and wanted to cancel my comcast internet but keep tv. Comcast tells me that if I do that I will lose access to the streaming apps on the x1 box and that I have to have THEIR Internet to use these apps. Is that true?? Any way around it?

To use these apps, you’ll need:

A compatible X1 TV Box (RNG150s, Pace XG1v1s and some other X1 TV Boxes may not be supported) as part of your Xfinity TV service, or a streaming TV Box with Xfinity Flex service.
Xfinity Internet service (any level).

As noted, the X1 box requires Comcast Internet service as it goes through Comcast servers. You are better off using a SmartTV for apps or something like a Roku, Chromecast, or Firestick. Hell, with fiber Internet, why not just dump Comcast entirely and go with an Internet based TV service?
