Can the XiD-P work on its own?

Question

Can an XiD-P work without a bigger Xfinity box? My friend let me use his XiD-P (that he literally never unboxed) until he ends his service because I don’t have cable. Since I don’t have a bigger cable box, most the channels give me error XRE-10007. If I upgraded to the XB6 modem would it have more tuners? I want to be able to use this thing. I’ve heard this box is DTA or IP. I’m guessing it’s running in IP X1 Client, is there a way to make it a DTA?

No, depending on account, it can’t work on it’s own. It would need to be swapped for a DTA. Why not get a Roku or use the website , have your buddy set you up a username/password and use the Xfinity Stream app?

What's weird is some channels work, such as 1740 Nick Teen, or 1786 screenpix. But a lot of channels don't work. If there was a bigger box connected to the splitter, would it work then?

That error mentioned above is an activation error code, it needs to be activated. It needs a main box to work
