Can non longer set up manual recordings

This week manual recordings I had set up did not record. I tried to replace them and discovered that it is no longer possible to set up manual recordings. You get a message "Recording option not available. Recording on this channel is not available". This is not true as I can record programs on any of the channels. They have just taken away the ability to set up manual recordings. Why would they do this. Extremely frustrating. PLEASE Xfinity restore this capability!

Same here; I just noticed it this morning and am not happy about it! If anybody figures out a workaround, please post, thanks.

Hey there, @NolensvilleMo! Thank you so much for taking the time to reach out to us here on the Xfinity Forums! I am very sorry to hear about the experience with recording shows manually, it certainly is not what we want for our customers. Is the manual recording issue on specific channels or all channels within the household? Can you share any troubleshooting steps you may have tried?

Hello,

The issue is on all channels. The following steps have been taken.

1. I unplugged the box, waited 30 seconds and plugged it back in. No change.

2. I called tech support who made me unplug the box again. The also said they sent a signal. No change.

3. They connected me with level 2 who went through the exact same routine. They then arranged for a technician to come to my house.

4. The day before the scheduled technician visit I received a call from Xfinity. The agent said he wanted to try further steps. I agreed. He simply did the same thing as in step 2.

5. The technician arrived, witnessed my issue and changed out the box. The problem is still there. The technician advised that they must have sent a software update removing the funcationality.

This is very frustrating because when recording long programs (e.g. a tennis tournament which might be 10 hours) the recordings cause issues during playback. Hence I like to break them up into, say, 4 hour sections and then I have no problem.

I would be very happy if this functionality would be restored.

Thanks.

Thank you so much for sharing the steps that have been taken, and taking the time to troubleshoot with us @NolensvilleMo! It does sound like all avenues have been exhausted with troubleshooting, and the software update causing the changes. We are always looking for ways to improve our customers experience, and will document the feedback. You can also submit the feedback following the link here. Please let us know if you have any other questions/concerns, we are happy to help!

@NolensvilleMo Thanks for posting this (and all the troubleshooting you've attempted), Nolensville. I went ahead & sent feedback for them to bring the manual recording back; so who knows, maybe they'll restore it.

So, yesterday I received an email from Tom Karinshak, President and Chief Customer Experience Officer, stating a member of his team would connect with me within 24 hours using the contact information I provided.

Of course the email is from a "donotreply" address so no way to respond.

24 hours have passed and I have not heard from anyone. Disappointing.....

NolensvilleMo Thanks so much for letting us know about the issue. Tom Karnashak is no longer with Comcast/Xfinity, and his office should no longer be sending email responses. Did you receive the reply after submitting feedback at https://www.xfinity.com/support/svp-contact-form?
