Can I use an ethernet connection from my Orbi router to an Xi6 TV box with XB8 Gateway used as only a bridge?
Hello, I would like to upgrade to the Xi6 TV box. I have the XB8 Gateway. However, I use the Gateway in bridge mode as a modem and connect all my wifi and wired devices to my Netgear Orbi Wifi Router. If I get the Xi6 box, can I connect an ethernet cable directly from my Orbi router to the Xi6 and still get access to the DVR and on-demand, etc.? Or must the ethernet cable be directly attached to the Gateway modem?
This is for my non-DVR additional room. My old box won't let me watch 4K content, and I would like to do that. However, it seems my only option is to get the Xi6 because I can't get 2 DVRs.
So basically, I want to use an ethernet cable from my Orbi router to the Xi6 box and not lose functionality. I can't do it directly from the Gateway because you can only connect one ethernet cord to it when in bridge mode, and that goes to the Orbi already.

Good afternoon @Nosmoke, and thanks for submitting a post. Can you confirm what model your primary cable box is?

@Nosmoke Yes, I pay for two DVRs. No problem running both of them. Like you, I didn't want to use WiFi for cable TV. But, didn't investigate using ethernet to an Xi6 box as the TVs in question are nowhere near the Orbi router or mesh satellites.
