Can I use an ethernet connection from my Orbi router to an Xi6 TV box with XB8 Gateway used as only a bridge?

Hello, I would like to upgrade to the Xi6 TV box.  I have the XB8 Gateway.  However, I use the Gateway in bridge mode as a modem and connect all my wifi and wired devices to my Netgear Orbi Wifi Router.  If I get the Xi6 box, can I connect an ethernet cable directly from my Orbi router to the Xi6 and still get access to the DVR and on-demand, etc.?  Or must the ethernet cable be directly attached to the Gateway modem?

This is for my non-DVR additional room.  My old box won't let me watch 4K content, and I would like to do that.  However, it seems my only option is to get the Xi6 because I can't get 2 DVRs.

So basically, I want to use an ethernet cable from my Orbi router to the Xi6 box and not lose functionality.  I can't do it directly from the Gateway because you can only connect one ethernet cord to it when in bridge mode, and that goes to the Orbi already.

Good afternoon @Nosmoke, and thanks for submitting a post. Can you confirm what model your primary cable box is?

My primary box is an XG1v4-A DVR.

Thank you for confirming that, @Nosmoke. You can upgrade to the Xi6 wireless 4K box. It just has to be connected to your home network, regardless of if you use our modem or an Orbi for the WiFi. It will work for you. Would you like us to get a shipment set up for the box?

So I can plug the ethernet cord directly from the Orbi into the Xi6 wireless 4K box and it should work fine?

And the gentleman below mentioned that he had two XG1V4 DVRs.  Is that an option also?

I don't want to use WIFI, but either Coax or wired ethernet (thru the Orbi)

Really?  Do you have to pay for two DVRs?  Are there any issues with that setup at all???

@Nosmoke  Yes, I pay for two DVRs.  No problem running both of them.  Like you, I didn't want to use WiFi for cable TV.  But, didn't investigate using ethernet to an Xi6 box as the TVs in question are nowhere near the Orbi router or mesh satellites.

Good to know that's a viable option (but more costly).  Thank you.

So just to be 1000% sure before I pull the trigger, I can plug the ethernet cord directly from the Orbi into the Xi6 wireless 4K box and it will work fine?

Yep, it will work fine with your setup, @Nosmoke. You can connect the Xi6 box with ethernet to the Orbi.
