Can DVR be synched remotely?

Scanning the forum, it appears that issues with recordings or scheduled recordings not appearing in the Stream App can be fixed by doing a DVR Synch.  Can this be accomplished remotely or be done by a Customer Service Tech Rep?   I'm not able to perform a synch from the unit itself while traveling.
