Boosting Xfinity Remote IR signal for TV control?

My couch is 16 feet away from my TV and the X1 voice enabled remote needs to be pointed at the TV to control the volume of the TV since that happens over IR (infrared line of sight). I've measured it with a tape measure and the remote only has enough IR power to change the volume from 13 feet or less. It is very lame to have to stand up and reach forward to change the volume.

I have about 3 other remotes that are programmed with the same code to change the TV volume and all of them work from up to 22 feet away so I know I'm not asking a lot. Can anyone please measure how far their remotes work from the TV for changing volume. Every other remote function is RF so I'm only talking about volume control.

There’s no such thing as a boost. Try a replacement remote

I'm asking anyone (assuming thousands of X1 users out there) to measure how far their IR signal will go to see if it's just a Comcast piece of garbage in everyone's hands or if mine is uniquely hosed (which it has been since I got it last year).

My XR2 remote works fine all the way across my living room, into my kitchen to the far wall (can't go beyond the wall to test), about 36 feet with no drop off of effectiveness.  I tested an XR11 voice enabled remote (which I don't use) and it also worked fine at my maximum distance 36 feet.  Maybe you should take your remote to an Xfinity store and test/exchange it.

I have had the X1 system since it beame available in the Houston Market.  16 feet is more than I have ever used my remotes.  The only suggestion I can make is to try brand-new batteries and see how far they can control your X1 box.

have you located the 'window' for the IR receiver on your TV? be sure nothing is in the way like a sound bar or other device. be sure to shade the 'window' from sunlight (washes out the IR signal). use a soft dry cloth to polish the window? use a light to examine the window. is there anything smeared on it?
