Bluetooth audio sync

I came from a Tivo Bolt with an external bluetooth transmitter, and Tribit headphones.  There was never any audio sync problems with that setup.

Now I have a Arris 4K X1 box and set up the bluetooth audio, and synced it to the headphones.  Not only is the range about 1/2 of the transmitter I used to use, but the audio/video sync is off by up to 1/2 second with the bluetooth from the Arris box.  I do not see any way to adjust the delay or the audio or video to sync it back up, nor does the Arris have an audio out to hook my old transmitter up to it.   Has anyone tried using an HDMI audio extractor to extract audio to send to a bluetooth transmitter?  I havent had this issue since the first use of mpeg2 way back when.

does your TV offer bluetooth connectivity?

No, just analog RCA and TOSlink digital out.  I tried to hook the original bluetooth transmitter to the TVs analog audio jack, but when the Marantz AV receiver is on (used to switch video inputs between devices) it mutes the audio on the HDMI line to the TV, so that did not work either.   That would have been the best solution, since it has a lip sync adjustment in the audio secton.
