Bad quality feed watching espn

I am trying to watch ESPN and the feed is unwatchable.  There’s an extremely choppy and picture and the audio cuts in and out. It’s happens all the time on a variety of channels but tonight it’s really bad.  Why am I paying for a channel that doesn’t work?

@XfinityAmir  I was actually watching on TV.   There are  a few channels where it happens occasionally (TNT, USA, TBS - to name a few) but this past week ESPN was completely unwatchable.  I have called before and have been told it has to do with the 'live feed' but it still happens during the commercials (which are not live) and plenty of other stations present live broadcasts without these issues.  This is a station that is an extra expense so it seems like it should work.  I took a video but don't know how to upload it

Similar situations. Xfinity"tried" to fix a couple of weeks ago, but still doing it. ESPN is the only channel on TV that does it

Good morning @user_f5ba78, I'm sorry to hear that you are also experiencing issues with your ESPN channel. Are you experiencing this issue while trying to watch ESPN on your TV or while trying to stream on a tablet or mobile device? Are you receiving any error codes as well?

@user_0e56ee  I figured out that if I watch it on the app (the one that's included on the Xfinity platform - so still my TV) it works fine.   I have the choppiness issues with other nonsports channels (USA, TNT) but I hardly ever watch them so it doesn't bother me so much.   Hope that helps!

I'm sorry to hear that you having issues with ESPN while trying to enjoy what is airing. Have you checked and verified that all your connection are finger tight? Is this happening on other channels? if you have multiple TV does this happen on all TVs?

Just stumbled on this post when I was researching the same issue that I've been having for at least the last week.

So far, it seems that it only happens to ESPN, but I don't regularly watch any other channels so I can't be certain. However, if I leave ESPN on and just watch for a minute, the feed will stutter for a half second a half a dozen times. It really makes the channel unwatchable. The stuttering happens on both the live feed and during most commercials. Occasionally there is a commercial where there won't be a stutter/hiccup, but it does frequently happen during most commercials. At first I thought it was an issue with a new TV we just bought, but this same issue persists across each of the three televisions we have. On our primary TV we have an XG1v4 box, and then on the two other TVs we have the smaller HD boxes. All of the TVs experience the same issue when watching ESPN. I've run the signal strength check on each of the boxes and each returns a result of "good" signal strength. I've tried disconnecting and then reconnecting the coaxial cable on each of the boxes with no luck. I've performed two separate system refreshes and still no improvement. I also tried watching ESPN via the Xfinity web interface (https://www.xfinity.com/stream/) thinking that maybe it had something to do with the signal coming into our house, but then noticed when I was watching via the web interface, the stutter/hiccup would occur at the exact same moment as it happens on the live TV feed, leading me to believe it's some backend issue between ESPN/Xfinity. For example, yesterday I was watching a basketball game on ESPN on the TV via the cable box and then also had the same game open on the web interface. The web interface feed was around 15 seconds or so behind live TV. When I noticed the stutter on the TV feed, I looked down at my laptop and when the web interface caught up to the point where I saw the stutter on the TV live feed, the web interface stream would also stutter at the same spot. At this point I'm out of ideas, but ESPN is unwatchable.

One other thing I'd note in case someone else is looking into this issue is that when watching via the Xfinity Stream app, the feed is perfect, or at least it was for the 5 or so minutes I watched earlier today. ESPN constantly stutters on live TV and on the web interface, but not in the Xfinity Stream app. Hopefully this gets resolved soon since ESPN is a primary channel for us. If there is any other info you think would be helpful, please let me know and I'll provide it as soon as I can. I can also record my screen and share the video if it would be helpful in understanding the problem.

I am so sorry that you are having this concern with your channels! I do want to let you know that this thread is a bit old. Rather than responding here, if you make a new one we can make sure to address it and we can make sure the maximum number of people see it. Are you able to make a new post @user_98a655?

I am truly sorry you are having this issue! To rule some things out, have you made sure that all your cords are finger tight, and have you tried resetting your box to see if that helps? If you did all that and nothing has helped, you can also send me a DM as well by following these directions:

To send a direct message you may need to:

Click "Sign In"

Click the "direct message" icon

Click the "New message" (pencil and paper) icon

Type "Xfinity Support" in the "To:" line and select "Xfinity Support" from the drop-down list which appears. The "Xfinity Support" graphic replaces the "To:" line

Type your message in the text area near the bottom of the window

Press Enter to send it

Thanks for the response and I'll send you a direct message momentarily, but in case others come across this thread looking for help, I will say that we've tried resetting all the boxes followed by system refreshes. One of our three TVs was recently upgraded, so as part of that we necessarily had to disconnect the cable box, but those wires were reconnected and are fairly tight. The other two boxes haven't been touched in ages, but they are also displaying the same "stutter" issue on ESPN. All three boxes return a "good" signal result when running the signal strength check.

I am experiencing this same issue. ESPN feed keeps skipping and is super blurry/pixelated. It’s really unwatchable. I tried to load the xfinity stream app on my tv but it isn’t available and I get an error when I try to AirPlay from my phone. Is there a fix for this issue?

Welcome to our community forum, @user_281248! I love to watch TV to relax at the end of the day so I'd be upset if I was having issues. We'll stick with you here until we get to the bottom of this. What troubleshooting have you tried so far? Is ESPN the only channel being affected?

I have the same issue.  My husband loves to watch the Red Socks and the feed is horrible.  Only NESN.  I have asked before, and they said they would get back to me.  They have not
