Alternative remote control for new 4K Xfinity box
The new remote control for the 4K Xfinity box is simply horrible. The last X1 voice remote was so easy to use, each button responded with normal force, like every other remote I've ever used. On this new remote, the arrow buttons, which I use A LOT, are very difficult to operate by touch, as they take a lot of pressure to activate. I've seen this complaint elsewhere, so I know it's not just me.
Please tell me we have alternatives to this. I'm extremely dis-satisfied with the current X1 experience.

Hello @user_3cd8b1, thank you for reaching out to us on our community forums. I noticed when I swapped out my remote for a new one a while back the buttons were stiffer in comparison to the previous remote. Thankfully, after a few weeks, they started to feel like the previous remote.

You probably have the small, squareish XR15 remote. You can get an XR11 at a local Comcast store if you can find one. The XR15 is a perfect example of form-over-function.

Bryan, you are SO right ... the new remote is absolutely terrible. For the life of me, I cannot imagine what the hell Comcast thought was wrong about the X11 remote. I will be looking into swapping back to the X11 remote as well. Thanks so much for your post which saves my aching hand!

Are we all talking about the 4K DVR XG1v4-A? I agree the remote is horrible. They got rid of the "replay" key which I used all the time. I was also able to program the Pg^ or Pg down key on my previous XR13 remote to the seconds which worked best for me. I can't find any instruction on how to do that for the XR15 remote. I tried my previous XR13 remote but can't get it to work with the XG1v4-A. Is there any programming which will get them to work together? Will the X11 remote work with the XG1v4-A?

The change on the PgUp/PgDn keys is not programming the remote. You are telling the cable box how to interpret those commands. Once programmed, any remote used would act the same. To set the change, while watching regular TV, hit the Exit key 3 times, then type 0030. It may take a few times as the timing is a bit picky. To go back to 5 minutes, use 0500 instead of 0030.
The XG1v4 should work with most any Comcast remote. Even the ancient silver ones if they aren't too old can be programmed for it. I think only the XR2, XR11, and XR15 are RF-based, but older IR-remotes will also work. The XG1v4 is very picky about IR aiming, though.
