4K Non-DVR TV box with Coax?

Hi there!

Does Xfinity offer a 4K non-DVR box that supports coax in? I have one XG1v4 DVR and an owned modem, and I'd like to add 4K to a secondary TV. I see the Xi6 requires an Xfinity gateway, so hoping there is a box that works with an owned modem available.

They do not offer a non-DVR wired 4k box... BUUUUUUTTTTTTT....

If you already have the  XG1v4 , you can add an Xi6 wireless box to your house.  I was under the same impression as you until I was having issues with 2 WIRED/DVR's in my house, (and the tech swapped one of them out with the Xi6)

The requirement for an xfinity gateway is only if you are wanting a wireless box without the wired one.

I have this setup and I have the Xi6 connected to my router via ethernet, though you can also do it wirelessly.

NOTE: all DVR recordings you access from the Xi6 will be off the cloud, there is a bit more of a delay watching sports on the Xi6.

A couple of pieces of good news:

  • the smart resume feature issues (as mentioned by so many here), works perfectly on the Xi6.
  • The Xi6 plays back Dolby vision where available (the XG1v4  does not)
