How do third-party streaming apps work?
What You Need To Know
- X1, Xumo Stream Box, and Xumo from Xfinity put your favorite streaming apps right on your TV.
- Most channels can be activated through their app by following these instructions: Xfinity button → Apps → app tile (or use your Voice Remote).
- Sign in with your existing account, sign up on the device, or link your Xfinity-billed subscription.
- Some apps require a separate subscription, but some are included with certain Xfinity packages.
Accessing most apps
For most third-party apps on Xfinity hardware, the steps are the same:
- Press the Xfinity button on your remote.
- Select Apps from the Home screen.
- Navigate to the app tile and select it.
- Or use your Xfinity Voice Remote: press and hold the microphone button and say the app name (e.g., "Watch Netflix," "Watch Hulu," "Open iHeartRadio")
- Follow the on-screen prompts to sign in or sign up.
Common sign-in methods: Most apps offer "Log in" (use your existing account credentials) or "Sign up now" (create a new account directly on the device).
For the Xumo Stream Box, the navigation differs slightly: navigate to the Apps row on the Home screen (press down on the XR100 remote's directional pad) → select Apps (View all) → scroll to the app tile.
