Unauthorized login attempt

Yes hello, I got a text message for a two factor authentication code that I did not solicit, so someone tried to log into my account and apparently had my password. I have changed my password and reviewed my account and nothing has been changed. What I need is your fraud team to check what IP address tried to access my account.

Could not get a hold of a live chat agent nor find a way to open a support ticket so now i'm asking in the public forums.

Greetings, @WisdomCube! I hope your week has been treating you well. Thanks so much for taking a moment out of your busy day to leave a post on our community forum. I'm sorry to hear you had an unauthorized login attempt, but you have definitely come to the right place for assistance.

You will definitely want to report something like this to our Customer Security Assurance (CSA) Team. They are available from 8:00am - 12:00am EST, 7 days a week, by calling 1-888-565-43298. You can also submit a report online by visiting https://internet-security-site-web.ho-g3.cf.comcast.net/help/report-abuse.

@XfinityJamesC Thank you, but that link you posted doesn't seem to work for me. Is there another one I can use?

Thanks for letting me know about the link. Our software automatically shortens any URL we post to the forum. Let me try again: https://internetsecurity.xfinity.com/help/report-abuse/ just in case.

You can also find it on Google by searching "Xfinity Security Assurance Team". It should be the very top result. Let me know if either of those works better for you.

You disappoint me James:

  1. "internet-security-site-web.ho-g3.cf.comcast.net" is not a "shortened" link, it's a private link. to a 10.112.21.* internal/intranet IP address. Customers have no access to such an address.
  2. "https://internetsecurity.xfinity.com/help/report-abuse/" doesn't work for me ("The connection has timed out") in Firefox. That final / seems to kill it, resulting in a page load timeout. https://internetsecurity.xfinity.com/help/report-abuse works OK.

That link works, but the only option I see that is sort of what I need is the Identity Theft section but the process seems to go into a different direction than I would like.

I don't want to submit a claim for identity theft resolution per se, I would just like to make the appropriate team aware of an unauthorized login / login attempt on my account. Meanwhile I would like to know the IP address that made this attempt and whether or not they were able to complete the 2FA afterwards, is it standard practice to inform your customer of the results of their investigations on that customers' account? There is a public story about a massive 2FA bypass attack to comcast customers not even three months ago apparently, of which I had no idea until this happened and read the story on Google.

Can I just send an email to the listed email address: [Edited: "Personal Information"] ? or is there another place to do this

@WisdomCube I understand where you're coming from. In this sitution your only option is to submit a claim, either there or with our fraud department, or reach out to them directly. I would suggest calling them to see what they can do for you and what the best next step would be. This link has more information about our Fraud team.

I no longer work for Comcast.
