Can't log into my Xfinity account; it is linked to another account, I think

Years ago I created an Xfinity account (it may have been Comcast at the time).  I more recently tried to shop for Xfinity internet and created another account, probably with the same service address.  I think I linked the two accounts.  Now when I try to login the (new) account doesn't work.  After I enter my name and password it takes me back to the home screen "xfinity.com/auth".  If I click on the account icon there, the first option is "sign in", which has the same result if I click on it a second time.

If, instead of clicking on "sign in" I click on "account and identity", it takes me to a page that shows a progress icon (three dots in a circle) for a second, then briefly flashes "something unexpected happened" with some more text below that I can't read.  It then goes back to the progress icon and repeats the process over and over.

I would like to switch my internet provider to Xfinity when my current plan expires in April, but I am afraid to do so if I can't create a working Xfinity account.

Concern moved here to the Customer Service help section for greater exposure to Comcast corporate employees (The Digital Care Team) for assistance.

Good afternoon @user_d5u855, and thank you for reaching out on our Community Forums with your online account issues. Have you tried unlinking your accounts? You can unlink the accounts by following the instructions listed here  https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/switching-between-multiple-accounts

I just tried that.  When I click on "Xfinity ID and security"  it displays that circular progress icon with the three dots and every second (I think) flashes a screen saying "Something unexpected happened".

We're sorry to hear that did not work @user_d5u855. I can also recommend reaching out to our amazing Customer Security Assurance (CSA) team who are experts in handling online account and ID issues. They can be contacted directly at 1-888-565-4329 and their hours of operation are 8:00am - 12:00am EST, 7 days a week.

I tried that.  The person I spoke with didn't seem to think it was his group's problem and transferred me to another number, where I was put on hold.  I eventually gave up holding and hung up.

@user_d5u855 Thanks for giving that a try. They are the folks that are able to work on ID issues like what you are describing, so it may be worth it to try again. In the meantime, we can take a look to see if there is anything we can do to assist. Please send a direct message to us by clicking the chat icon in the upper right corner of the page, click on the pen and paper icon, then enter “Xfinity Support” in the “To” section. Please include your full name and complete street address, and the XFINITY ID's that you created. Thanks!
