Account owner needs to be updated after a divorce

My ex-spouse called and asked that the account owner be changed, but his name is still listed as the account owner and I am unable to update it.

Hello @kulacrosse, we appreciate your interest in having the account changed under your name. There is a process where you both have to sign an affidavit and notarize the document. Do you know if that's been completed and uploaded?

When I click on a link that I was sent, it says "Request Complete".  I don't recall anything about an affidavit, which sounds completely ridiculous.  Does it certify that he no longer owns me, a fully capable adult who has been financially responsible for the account for 20 years?

@kulacrosse We do take the security of the account and information very seriously and don't make any changes without completed forms and any necessary supporting documents. This link explains the process a little bit. I'll be happy to pull up the account and take a look at where we are with the request. Could you please send our team a direct message with your full name and full address?

"Search for Xfinity Support" won't work. To send a "Direct Messaging" message to Xfinity Support:

  • Click "Sign In" if necessary

  • Click the "New message" (pencil and paper) icon

  • The "To:" line prompts you to "Type the name of a person". Instead, type "Xfinity Support" there

  • - As you are typing a drop-down list appears. Select "Xfinity Support" from that list

I no longer work for Comcast.

Both my ex and I have contacted Xfinity specifically to change the ownership of this account.  I did so first and was told the only way that I could do so was to prove that I was no longer owned by my husband (by producing a divorce decree) - in person no less.  My ex then called.  He told me that it should be all set.  I have never been sent any documentation and one of the reasons my ex is an ex is because he would never follow through.  As a result, I have converted ALL of our other utilities myself without issue.  Not one required me to prove that there is no longer a man in the house.
