Can't activate unlocked Pixel 6 phone on xfinity mobile

I just got an unlocked pixel 6 phone (not 6 pro) from Google store, xfinity IMEI checker tool says not compatible, so I decided to insert my son's xfinity mobile SIM card and see what happens, and looks like I can't make calls and no data either, but wifi calling works. I thought pixel 6 is supposed to be compatible with xfinity mobile, isn't it?

I just want to comment on my last comment which I left here roughly 7 months ago.

https://forums.xfinity.com/conversations/xfinity-mobile/unlocked-pixel-6-purchased-from-google-store-not-compatible/61daa154f069681686045e90?commentId=620c694975582e541faa6f72

I checked my IMEI number for Pixel6 "Unlocked" BYOD eligibilty for XfinityMobile, and unfortunately it's still the same.

The backend engineering team has not added or coded to accept the device yet.

These type of issues for information can be easily solved if Xfinity had documentation of supported devices for BYOD. Not just listing "Pixel"

It is very frustrating from a consumer standpoint.

@hangrypixel Thank you for that feedback and for the details. Have you been able to speak to our Xfinity Mobile group directly to see if there is an update recently?

I no longer work for Comcast.

Same here, I tried to subscribe to your services (internet+2 mobiles) this morning with a live agent. Needed 2 lines, the pixel6a bought 2 weeks ago worked fine. My pixel6 did not. IMEI incompatible they said...

He offered me to buy a new phone... Now I am looking for another carrier for that second line.

Or can you find a solution very soon?

Thanks,

@user_9b855d

When I check the same phone the IMEI Checker from Xfinity the dialog has now changed on website.

"Your phone is compatible, but it may be locked to the current carrier"

Xfinity has changed something on the backend.

To say the unlocked phone from bestbuy I bought back in Nov is "Maybe it was a bad" is misinformed,  I really doubt that, I've used it on 2 different carriers.

ATT and Verizon and it worked perfectly :)

That said, with the 200 BYOD promo to add the phone currently I will try to add the pixel 6 now. I can continue to get SIM card shipped now with the backend change and will report back if it works once I start the activation process.

I can report that the BYOD Pixel 6 activation worked.

Looks like Backend Engineers of Xfinity added the phone to be able to do BYOD :)

@hangrypixel Which Pixel 6 do you have (Model and Memory); and did you get it to work with physical sim or the e-sim?

I have been using a Verizon plan from a different carrier until Xfinity fixes the issues of not allowing us to use our phones.  I was told that because I bought the larger memory based unit; it is not compatible.  You know, some reason they think that you should only use the 128gm model with their system, because if you opted for 256gb; it just can't work with the system. :-)  And let's not forget; while I can use an e-sim on Verizon right now; Xfinity is still not allowing it on their system.
