On Demand Search Messed Up

I have a non-X1 box.  Within the past few years some programs aren't being uploaded to the on Demand screen.   The only way to view these programs is to perform a search.  Why has this function been more or less disabled?  The search is now limited to 5 characters and only displays current programming for the day the search is performed.   Would appreciate a response.   I've seen other posts regarding this, however,  those posts were closed with no answer.

We certainly understand the importance of enjoying your on demand programs, we would be more than happy to help! Can you tell me if you are experiencing this issue with particular channel or show?

@XfinityBrianW​.  I figured out that the Search Feature works if I access it through the Menu rather than just pressing the search button on the remote.
