movie search category removed

Up until a couple months ago on my xfinity cable boxes there was a search category called something like "movies on your streaming services". It was located under "on-demand / movies". It was right under the new and most popular search category. Using the movies on your streaming services search returned results for moves that were only on my streaming services. It also had sub-categories of newly added movies, action movies, comedy movies, science fiction movies, ect) . It did not include any of the movies on streaming services i do not have. It did not include any of the pay to watch movies. And it did not include any of the movies on the free streaming services.

I was wondering if that search category will be added back. If I do not know what movie I what to watch I have to search each streaming service i have one at a time now rather than the one search category that used to be available.

Hi there and welcome to Comcast. Thank you so much for reaching out to us regarding you movie search category. Do you have a picture that you can provide us with so we can see what you are referring to?

I do not have a picture of the "movies on your streaming services" category as it was removed. I did take a picture of where that category used to be located. Where "movies streaming now" is was the location. I believe i attached it. As mentioned the "movies on your streaming services" category only listed the streaming services I have, and had multiple categories inside of it that made it much easier to find a movies to watch if you did not want to watch a specific moved. If that category

cannot be re-added, maybe a filter for "movies on your streaming services" can be added.

That is a great suggestion, @user_y5967i! Did the old filter list the streaming services you subscribed to through your residential account, or just the services you were logged into on your X1 box?

It was not a filter, it was a search category. I only had mentioned adding it as a filter incase the search category cannot be re-added, although it would be cool to be able to search through any search category and be able to change a filter setting to show only movies and tv shows on services that you subscribe to. I have Netflix, Amazon Prime, Disney / Hulu and HBO / HBO Max. Only HBO and HBO Max are through Comcast, the other are subscriptions through the streaming services. One other thing I noticed is that around the same time the search category was removed, Xfinity is not remembering that I subscribe to Disney. The movies that are on Disney I have to go to the watch options of the movie and select Disney as an option.

Before posting the original message, I tried calling Xfinity and asking about this. They asked me some questions and said they would open a ticket and get back to me. They never got back to me and did not open a ticket.

Sorry to hear about the lack of resolution, @user_y5967i. I really appreciate your feedback, and I thank you for providing those details! We have been rolling out several interface updates recently, and it sounds like the shift we've made has affected the available categories. Here is the current state of things and a few ways to get that functionality back (or as close to it as possible).

1. The Missing "Movies on Your Streaming Services" Category
We have largely replaced that specific category with a broader "Movies Streaming Now" or "Free to Me" logic. Because your Netflix, Prime, and Disney+ subscriptions are third-party (not billed through Comcast), the X1 box sometimes "loses track" of them as being part of your library.

The Workaround: While the specific row might be gone, you can achieve a similar result using the "Free to Me" filter.

- Go to On Demand > Movies.

- Press the Up Arrow to highlight Filter.

- Select Free to Me.

- Note: This should show movies from your linked apps, but our software sometimes prioritizes content from networks you pay for through them (like HBO).

2. Why it "Forgot" Your Disney+ Subscription
The reason you have to go into "Watch Options" for Disney+ titles is likely a Deep Link or App Authorization sync issue. Since you subscribe to Disney+ directly and not through us, the X1 box needs a "handshake" to remember you’re logged in.

- The Fix: 1. Open the Disney+ app on your X1 box manually. 2. Log out and log back in. 3. Once logged in, play any movie for 10 seconds. This often "forces" the X1 global search to recognize the active session, which should make Disney+ show up as a primary "Watch" button rather than being hidden in options.

3. The "Ticket" That Never Was
I believe we meant well, offering to create a ticket. If the issue is a User Interface (UI) change decided by their developers, though, the phone agents often don't have a way to "fix" it. They might have realized it was a permanent software update and didn't follow up because there was no "error" to repair - it was working "as designed," even if that design is less helpful for you. Still, our apologies for not following up as offered.

What You Can Do Now
- Voice Remote Hack: Try saying "Movies on Netflix" or "Action movies on Prime" into the remote. While it's not the one-stop-shop category you had before, the voice search is currently more reliable at filtering by provider than the manual menus.

- The "Free to Me" Guide: Press the Guide button twice on your remote and select "Free to Me". This filters your actual channel list to only what you pay for, which can sometimes help the On-Demand side of the house stay synced with your subscriptions.

And please let me know if this helps!

I tried what you mentioned below.

For #1, I tried that option before, the problem is it also includes all of the free streaming services and cable channels that offer streaming movies which I do not like because you have to watch commercials. Not to mention the total amount of movies you have to scroll thru because of the extra streaming services.

For #2, I did try logging out of Disney, logging back in and watching something for a few minutes. It did not save my logging in to Disney to the X1 box.

Since the change I have been using what you suggested for finding movies (using the remote and search for categories on specific streaming services). I already have the guide set to "free to me".

Thank you for the help. I can still get to the Disney movies through the watch option and I will continue to search the streaming services individually. Maybe someday in the future an option can be added to the category filter to include only the customers streaming services.
