Constantly losing dvr functions and having to reboot

Symptoms apply to live TV caching, any stream, any recording. Spoke to an operator 2 weeks ago who opened a case but heard nothing. My app says it cannot connect to the box most times thus occurs meaning I have to pull the plug to reboot. Any solutions to thus or is time to cut the cable? Yes, I got a brand new box about 2 months  no change.
