@user_e6iob4 are you using the Google messages app, and if so, have you checked to make sure that the app and the phones' software is up-to-date?

@user_e6iob4 if you go in to the messages app on the phone, select the three dots in the upper right-hand corner, select Settings, and select Chat features, does the status show connected?
