chat w/customer support for 5 hours in 2 days from Japan- they still can't fix the International service

My plan has "unlimited talk, text, and data in 215+ destinations, plus calls to Canada and Mexico" and that's the only reason I switched to Xfinity. Phone worked ok in East coast, then no service in Japan.

  • iPhone 12
  • eSIM
  • Xfinity Mobile 70.0
  • Carrier Lock: No SIM restrictions
  • Worked normally in Massachusetts before departure
  • Plan includes international talk/text/data in 215+ destinations
  • Data Roaming ON
  • Manual selection attempted with NTT Docomo, SoftBank, au, Rakuten
  • All result in No Service
  • Wi-Fi Calling activation fails with Verizon backend case ID

I've been on chat w Xfinity customer support, at once I was told that they switched to the on-shift supervisor, other time, my case was sent to the expert team who would be sending me an email with solutions (then about 5 min. later, I received an email from Xfinity with the title "information you requested" which included a link to "how to pay your bills". ??

I was so disappointed for making the switch to Xfinity as I was happy with our previous carrier- The new plan w Xfinity costed even more, which I happily took due to the international plan.  I needed this Int'l service to receive calls from my doctors in US and authentication texts. Let me know if anyone successfully connected to the local network in none US territories after first encountering some issues.

user_u3wcp3 Thanks for reaching out about calling while in Japan, and sorry to hear getting this information has been difficult for you. Hopefully this helps get you going on your device:
To activate international calling on a mobile device through the Xfinity Mobile app, follow these steps:
  1. Open the **Line & Data** tab in the app.
  2. Select the device you want to enable international calling for.
  3. Click on **Manage carrier features**.
  4. Choose the option for **Roaming data, calls, and texts – US and all international destinations**.
  5. Click **Save Changes** to confirm. Once completed, you will receive a success message indicating that the feature has been updated

Thanks for responding to my question!

When I opened Xfinity app, I see "Overview" "Services" "WIFI" "HOME" "Account" and did not find "Line & Data" tab.

Where can I find the "Line & Data"?

@user_u3wcp3 Sorry about that. These instructions are for the Xfinity Mobile app, and not the Xfinity app. The Xfinity Mobile app is the one to change settings for mobile services.

Do you mean Xfinity Mobile Care app?  When I searched app store with my iphone, I could not find the "Xfinity mobile" app-

user_u3wcp3 That app is for mobile claims like lost or stolen phone. Try this through the Xfinity app as it was recently added: go to the "services" tab at the bottom > scroll to mobile> Select "Mobile lines and data usage> select the phone they want to edit > Scroll down and the international options are listed lower.

Thank you for clarifying. I see "International services" under "Plan features" (and I've selected my line). The International services says "included" in green and when I still cricked the arrow, a new screen pops up and says, on the top, International services included, ready to use. "Ready to use" shows in blue as if I could crick, but does not have any link to it. The only thing I can crick in the screen is "Got it" to return to the previous screen, "see which destinations are covered" to see all the list of countries.  All Date, Calls & Texts, and International long distance calls shows "unlimited."  Does this look like something missing or I should be able to connect any local providers, or that "ready to use" without a link seems strange?
