Can't access home network wifi with Pixel 4a5G

I have an Xfinity home network with Ethernet and wifi support, with my Windows 10 laptop and phone on the wifi.
When I try to connect the phone to wifi, it rejects the password and asks to check it again.
I found the pw on the desktop which it successfully uses to access wifi, so why does the phone refuse it?
Does not make sense.
Would appreciate help.

Hi sgeneris, thanks for taking the time to post here on the community forums!  I'm sorry that you're running into issues connecting you Google Pixel to you WiFi network. The first thing I'd suggest is checking the Xfinity to ensure the password is correct.

You can see your password by performing the following steps in the Xfinity App:

  1. Select the WiFi tab, then WiFi details.
  2. Select Edit WiFi settings at the bottom.
  3. On this screen, you can view or change your WiFi name or WiFi password.
  4. Click Save after making any changes.

Only Primary, Manager, and Member Xfinity ID users can access the WiFi tab in the Xfinity app. For more information on the Xfinity app, see Using the Xfinity app.

Please let us know if that helps!

Hi,

1. I have already found the pw. However, when I enter it on the phone authentication attempts fail "Check pw and try again". This, even though my desktop can access wifi using exactly the same pw. I tried forgetting it and re-connecting -- same.

2. Can you pls advise if the Xfinitywifi access is still free, why I could not access it for 2 days, then it notified me of a charge, yet tech support had no clue about all this.

3. What are you going to do about the horrible non-support of your tech support--the ignorance and hanging up on me? Would you stay a customer under these circumstances?

1. A few things I might suggest is checking to make sure the password is correctly letter-cased (using correct capital/lower case letters) through the Xfinity App specifically, rebooting your device, and power cycling the modem by disconnecting and reconnecting the power supply.

2. Yes, Xfinity Wifi Hotspots are indeed free for Xfinity Internet customers! When you're taken to the sign-in screen after connecting to one of our hotspots, please make sure your selecting "Sign in to connect" next to the section that asks "Already an Xfinity Customer?"
This same sign-in screen also displays an option further down to sign up for the NOW WiFi Pass which is a paid service for non-Xfinity customers, and uses a button stating "Get connected". If this is what was selected, it may be where you saw a charge mentioned.

3. I apologize for any issues you had while reaching out to our tech support teams! Can you provide some more details about what occurred? We can absolutely take feedback about your experience.

1. I have not tried the gateway yet 0-- it takes time to recover and I need desktop access to the net. The pw is all low case letters and I tried it several times.

2. It's not a sign-in issue. I usually connect to it without signing in, I click on it and I connect. But, to repeat, two days I could not and when it came back

it notified me that there is a $10 charge. It never asked me to sign in -- it knew that I am an Xfinity user. Then all of a sudden a charge -- it does not make

sense.

3. I called support because for 2 days I could not connect to neither Xfinitywifi, nor to the wifi of my home network. The details of what happened are

in my post. Please read it. Then tell me how you can expect to keep customers this way.

Thank you for providing that additional information. We understand how important it is to stay connected, and we appreciate your patience. Public and private WiFi Hotspots are subject to availability, and there may be periods when access is limited or unavailable for extended periods.

When it comes to your own home network and internet connection, we can absolutely provide troubleshooting and see what we can do to get you online if you have any issues.

1. When I subscribed to your services I signed a contract. That contract commits me to pay a certain amount for a certain availability of the services. I cannot decide that I will pay less because "right now I do not have enough money". Neither can Xfinity reduce the services because "availability".

2. To this point all I had is a 1/2hour wait on the line for troubleshooting, got a clueless support person who knew less than I (probably outside the US) and after about 20minutes of wasting my time, hang up on me.

So, with all due respect, a promise of troubleshooting at this point does not inspire confidence.

@sgeneris that would make sense regarding promotions if you had a previous agreement as new promotions have specific requirements to qualify as I've seen the ones online show for new customers.

I know your time is important so and completely understand if you're reluctant to try some addtional troubleshooting. Our Xfinity App offers great self-help troubleshooting options, and can run the whole home network check under the WiFi > Troubleshooging tab. We also have this helpful troubleshooting check list on the Forum as well: https://forums.xfinity.com/conversations/your-home-network/internet-troubleshooting-tips/602dae4ac5375f08cde52ea0

May I suggest you check my user background before you make assumptions? I have been a user of both Internet and Mobile by Xfinity for a very long time. I have not heard of any promotion or requirements to qualify and any change in my status requires a notification and explanation, which I have not received.

If troubleshooting is so straightforward via the application, why did not your tech support put me through it? Because he had no idea what he was doing and after about 20mins realized he has no clue and hang up. No matter what happens now this is unacceptable. Creating apps and dumping the work that tech support should do on the user is not acceptable either.

@sgeneris for security purposes, until we have authenticated an account our options are very limited on what we're allowed to see on customers account/profiles. If you check either our website, or our broadband facts' page: https://www.xfinity.com/broadband-labels

for promotions. When going to the "pricing and other info" hyperlink" the promotions offers that are currently running through 9/8 have this under the very first sentence: New Xfinity Internet customers.

We're always looking for ways to improve as a company, so based on your previous interaction feedback could be submitted for additional training. I always like to ensue I'm providing as many options available for customers I work with here on the Forum as other people may search for similar issues and possibly find something that can help.

I do not think you understand.

You again place the burden on the customer. I should not have to check anything. If Xfinity provided Xfinitywifi free under my contract (1) if it starts charging, it is a reduction in service (2) at the very least it should notify me, not expect me to check anything to become aware of it.

I very much doubt training will do it. This is not the 1st time I experienced such terrible support -- in fact, each time something happens that require support I dread to call because I know what I can expect. Xfinity has on the one hand introduced so-called AI that is entirely useless to get rid of supporting customers, while not ensuring that if that fails, the human 2nd line support is knowledgeable and professional to pick up. This is the real problem and I doubt it's gonna get resolved any time soon, assurances not withstanding.
