Xfinity landline time incorrect

Hi,

It is 11:39 a.m. according to my laptop and cell phone, and the landline portable phone says 4:40 p.m. I just got off my cell phone with Xfinity Customer Service, he did some trouble shooting which included calling the landline 3 times, and then had me change the time in the portable phone which is a new Panasonic. I also have a new Vtech on the same line and the time is the same incorrect time. After hanging up with customer service I then called the landline with my cell, which uses T-Mobile service, and the time went from the correct time which I had changed it to back to, to being about 5 hours off again. Customer services basically said it was a hardware problem but after this last trick it is definitely an Xfinity system problem. Is there any way to fix the system?

I had a Centurylink copper aerial cable landline for 38 years and never witnessed this problem, and if anything caused the time to be incorrect a call to the phone always corrected it and the new Xfinity landline did the same thing when it was first set up. A call to the new portable phones from my cell made them update to the correct time rather than have to set them. The Xfinity land/voice line is brand new Fiber Optic aerial cable that was installed down our rural road in February of 2026, it also provides my internet. Centurylink would not fully restore the old copper cables after Hurricane Ian trashed them in 2022, so every time it rained the phone and internet went out for hours or days.

The calls in the call history at Xfinity.com under my account are listed with the correct time.

Thanks for your time.

user_64g3el Thanks for the detailed explanation and for testing this with two different phones. Based on what you've described, we'd like to investigate this from the Xfinity Voice side rather than have you continue changing settings on the phones.

The key detail is that both phones can be set to the correct time, but an incoming call causes them to change back to the same incorrect time. That points to the time information associated with the incoming Caller ID signal as something we need to check.

Please send us a direct message with your full name and service address, and we'll take a closer look at the Voice service with you.

How to Send Us a Direct Message:

  1. Click "Sign In" if necessary.
  2. Click the "Direct Messaging" icon.
  3. Click the "Start new conversation" (pencil and paper) icon.
  4. In the "To:" line, type "Xfinity Support".
  5. As you type, a drop-down list will appear. Select "Xfinity Support" from that list.
  6. An "Xfinity Support" graphic will replace the "To:" line.
  7. Type your message in the text area near the bottom of the window.
  8. Press Enter to send it.
