turn off voicemail

How can I turn off voicemail on my home phone?  I have an answering machine.  I've talked to 3 different reps at Xfinity and no one has been able to help.

Hey @debbiedu22, Thank you for visiting our official Xfinity Forums Community support page. We greatly appreciate you taking the time to share your experience regarding the Xfinity Voice line and the voicemail/answering machine.

The trick with using a personal answering machine is to ensure the answering machine has a lower ring count than the Xfinity Voicemail service. Could you please follow the steps on our 'Change the number of rings before your voicemail answers — Xfinity Voice help' support page to change the ring count to 9 and verify that your answering machine is set to answer on a lower ring count.

Please give this a try and let us know if you experience any errors or issues.

Thanks for your reply, but it doesn't really help me in our current situation.  We do NOT have voicemail services according to Xfinity, but we still get the notifications on our home phone of "new voicemail message" constantly.  I'll wake up and find a new message posted overnight.  We've asked Xfinity how to remove it, but they say it can't be removed it we don't have voicemail service.  I'm very disgusted with Xfinity and have just stopped contacting them regarding this.  Most of the reps are clueless.  Thanks, again.

debbiedu22, I do see we've had a couple of tickets opened before. I can dive into the results and confirm what the end result was. Please send me a direct message with your full name and service address to get started.

To send a direct message, please click on the chat icon in the top-right corner of the screen, and select "Xfinity Support" to initiate a Direct Message.
Click "Sign In" if necessary
Click the "direct messaging" icon or https://forums.xfinity.com/direct-messaging
Click the "New message" (pencil and paper) icon
Type "Xfinity Support" in the "To:" line and select "Xfinity Support" from the drop-down list which appears. The "Xfinity Support" graphic replaces the "To:" line
Type your message in the text area near the bottom of the window
Press Enter to send it
