Transfer of phone number

I have Comcast triple play for years, recently bought a new home, just a few miles away.  In the same town, same school, zip code as the old house.  The tech arrived at the new house and installed the triple play service, this was just a transfer of service.  Then the problm begin.

When he was done and test the phone I had a different number, he tried  for 2 hours to get my old number back, but couldn't.   Then gave me a number to call cause he was done it was up to me to get my old number back.  With the tech in the house we were hung up on twice..

I have then spoken to multiple comcast people in 2 days now. And have been told it cant be done..  due to a 911 system issue. Of the station the number comes

from.

Hey @user_35acba, thank you for reaching out on our forums. There are limitations on where landline numbers can be moved. I have seen customer's transition their landline into a cellphone to avoid losing their number with those restrictions. I can certainly double check to see if that is why we are not able to transfer the number or if we are able to. Can you send us a direct message so I can check? You can send one by clicking the "message" icon in the upper right corner of our forum page by the alerts icon. Once you click on that, input our shared handle Xfinity Support to send us a direct message.

Hello there, @bhawk77! This is something that needs to be addressed on an individual basis. The country is split into Rate Centers. This determines your phone prefix and 911 dispatch center. If you move to a different rate center, you will have to get a new home phone. You can have your home phone number ported to a mobile or similar carrier if you want to keep it.
