No dial tone

For several weeks, I have had no dial tone on two of the three phones on my Xfinity voice line. Only the phone plugged directly into the modem has a dial tone. I have had my modem reset a number of times, but this has never fixed the problem, and I never get a call-back afterwards. I may have to have my phone wiring inspected. Can I get a technician to do that for me?

Thank you for reaching out to us over our Xfinity Community Forums, @user_ea5672! Can you provide the Community with a little more information about your home phone configuration? Do you have a cordless phone system, or does each phone require to be plugged into a phone jack?

Each phone must be plugged into a phone jack.  I have tried switching phones among the jacks, and find that all three phones work, but only when plugged into the modem.

Thanks for reaching out and laying everything out clearly — that’s super helpful. In most cases, Xfinity Voice service only supports the phone that's directly connected to the modem. If your in-home phone jacks aren’t already wired into the back of the modem, our technicians generally wouldn’t be able to service or rewire them. That internal wiring is usually considered customer-owned equipment, and any work beyond the modem connection (like repairing wall jacks or wiring throughout the home) would typically need to be handled by a licensed electrician or a low-voltage wiring specialist.

That said, if your home was previously set up to use all the jacks with Xfinity Voice, it’s possible a tech might be able to confirm whether that setup is still active or give guidance.
