Landline not working.

Just updated WiFi box. Now landline is not working.

To start, could you tell me if your phone is plugged directly into your Xfinity gateway, or is it plugged into a wall outlet?

Just upgraded to new Xfinity Modem.  In the process my landline has lost it's dial tone and doesn't ring but goes to voice mail and any left message ends up in my in box.    othing was changed except the new modem
