Xfinity Voice number of ring fix

I'm having the same issue. Seems to have popped up in the last couple months. There will be days when it happens three or four times within an hour, at all hours of the day and night.  It is most annoying when it happens at 2 or 3 in the morning. Rings once and then stops.  I have a wireless base plugged directly into port 1 on my xfinity gateway and cannot for the life of me figure out what's going on. I contacted support a few weeks ago via chat and they told me they took action and it would not happen again.  What they did to "fix" it they did not say other than telling me to be sure I was blocking SPAM calls.  All was quiet for the last couple weeks.  Well it started again last night, twice around two in the morning, and another couple times at 5 and 6 in the a.m.   I finally got up and stuffed the wireless handset into my closet.

This is so frustrating.

To be totally transparent, the utility company cut the comcast cable for the neighborhood two days ago. after it was repaired and I got my Internet, TV and Voice restored, however I could no longer Stream any channels via the Xfinity Stream app.  I have one cable box still (that was fine) but any Smart TV with the APP failed with an error code of TVAPP-00281.  After two hours on the chat, and two technicians later they said they reset my Xfinity account and once I reset my gateway I was able to watch TV thru the Xfinity Stream app.   About 4 hours later the phantom "ring once" started again.

I'm at wits end - not sure if it was ever fixed to begin with or if it was re-aggravated by something the technician did last night but I'm at a loss for how to fix it for good.  HELP!!

Hello, @user_629035 thank you for reaching out over Xfinity Forums. I completely understand wanting to get the number of rings updated to more than 1. I appreciate the information you have provided so far, and found this helpful document about updating ring cycles: https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/change-number-of-rings-before-calls-are-forwarded

If you're still experiencing issues with this please let me know as I'd like to investigate further, and help get this resolved.

Not sure we need the number of rings updated to more than one.  The.issue is phantom rings where there is no one on the other end.

One difference since I installed the flgateway is i no longer have two RJ11 phone jacks in the modem.

I need to use a phone line not only for my voice service but also my ADT alarm system so I use a splitter to plug both lines into the back of the X1 gateway.

I removed the splitter and disconnected my ADT line and only have the Xfinity voice line plugged in and the phantom rings stopped.

Is there an known issue using two phone lines in the gateway?
