no stutter dial tone when voicemail received

My Arris 1682 modem is rented from comcast and maybe it is to blame. At one time I did get a stutter dial tone and a voicemail indicator light turned on when a voicemail message arrived. I noticed recently that this does not happen anymore, though the system does record and play back voicemails. I spent an hour on the phone today with tech support and they are baffled. They are sending a tech to my house in a few days but I wonder if there is a fix that doesn't require a tech visit.

Thank you for taking the time to create a post about this concern of yours, @mceaston. Glad to hear that your voice mail is still working, and that our Care team over the phone was able to schedule an appointment. Are you still having issues with this? We can also help look into it with you here, to get started, please use the chat icon in the upper right to enter Direct Messaging. From there, go ahead and compose a new message to "Xfinity Support" and send us a message with your name and address.

  • Click "Sign In" if necessary
