Website access mobile browser

On my desktop, I like to access the forums recent posts to see what people are posting.  I don't go to HOME and pick a forum topic to look at, but go to https://forums.xfinity.com/t5/forums/recentpostspage/post-type/thread/page/1.  I don't remember how I found that link but apparently stumbled on it and saved it.  This allows me to monitor every new post no matter what topic.  If someone knows the website path to get to the RECENT POSTS, please post it.

My question today is, since this link doesn't work on a mobile device, specifically my iPad:

Does anyone know how to get to RECENT POSTS when accessing the forums on an iPad or mobile device?

I'm assuming the website page is built only for desktop/laptops and that is probably the reason it is 'not found' on my iPad, but I would hope there would be a page for mobile device access.

Played around with the link, pasting it in a notepad and saw two special characters at the end, %C2 and %A0. Removed them and the link works on my iPad. Also had to remove the period after the 1. Here is the link that works on the iPad: https://forums.xfinity.com/t5/forums/recentpostspage/post-type/thread/page/1

Until about a year ago there was a way to see the most recent posts (any forum). As you already noticed that link no longer works.

The operation of the forum was revised to eliminate areas where "hacking" might occur. I used to use this link in the past too. I was invited to take part in revisions. The purpose of this forum is to help people who have not gotten problems solved by other methods supplied by Comcast. This is NOT any open forum for repeated comments, off topic, or otherwise.

In order to do that people who can answer a problem should reply once to help solve the problem, or reply again if original poster asks for more detailed help.

I see you got to take part in that first "Forum" site revision.

We have had a couple more revisions since they invited me to be an Expert. The company that programed the forum site (Lithium) was bought out by another company this year. Things are a little more confusing dealing with changes now. You probably have a good idea on how the process works from your first experience.

Nope, requesting desktop site in both Safari and Chrome doesn’t work either....’page not found’ or ‘unexpected error ‘...

Hi,

The link doesnt work on your ipad, but it does on your desktop. Interesting, but remember that most webpages give you a cut down version if it detects that a mobile device is accessing their webpage.

With the newer iOS (I believe iOS11 and up), using Safari as your browser, you can tell Safari to open the website as "Desktop"; meaning you are overriding the mobile webpage and getting it as though you were viewing the website on a desktop computer.

Here is how to do that (on and ipad, or iphone):

How to request the desktop version of a website in mobile Safari
  1. Visit the affected site in Safari.
  2. Tap and hold the Refresh button in the URL bar.
  3. Tap Request Desktop Site.
  4. The website will then reload as its desktop version.

Try that with the webpage you said is nto working, and see if that helps.

Have a Happy day,

Thats bizarre.

Then id say it could likely be your DNS settings in your network properties.  Have you tried changing the DNS to something like google's DNS?  Comcast uses 75.75.75.75 and 75.75.76.76.  You can change them to Google DNS which is 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4.  If you only have the one DNS entry in your network properties, then just replace it with one of Google's.  If for some reason you have Googles DNS, then use the Comcast one.

If you can reach the webpage from a computer, but not your ipad even after making it request the Desktop Site, then something else is going on.  The first step would be to try the "request desktop site" whcih you did without result, and the next is to change the DNS.  Last thing to try is checking whether your content blocker is messing with the website.

Do you have a content blocker on your ipad - probably since iOS12+?  if so, try disabling it as a way to test, heres how:

On your ipad, close out of all apps (double press home and swipe the apps up and off the screen), and then go to settings, then Safari and then Content Blockers.  Disable all and then Open Safari and try that link.
