Cast to Flex

How can we cast from a mobile device to Flex? I even have Xfinity as a mobile provider but can’t figure out how to cast what’s on my IPhone to my Samsung TV where Flex is connected and is otherwise working fine.

@AJBJR12

Welcome to the Xfinity Forum and thank you for posting your question here. To cast select apps’ content from your mobile device to an X1 TV Box or Flex streaming device, you’ll need the following:

  • A supported Xfinity Gateway with Xfinity Internet service.
    • Supported Gateways: Arris or Technicolor XB6, Arris or Cisco XB3
  • An eligible X1 TV Box as part of your TV subscription, or a streaming device with Xfinity Flex service.
    • RNG150 and Pace XG1v1 X1 TV Boxes are not eligible for mobile casting.
  • A mobile device connected to your in-home network.
  • Supported apps include: Netflix, Spotify and YouTube.
For information on each mobile app and how to cast, please refer to:

Turn On or Off Mobile Casting to Your X1 TV Box or Flex Streaming Device

To turn on or off mobile casting:

  1. Press the xfinity button (X1 or Flex) or home button (Flex) on your remote.
  2. Use the right or left arrow buttons to get to the gear icon, then press OK to go to Settings.
  3. Use the up or down arrow buttons to get to Privacy, then press OK.
  4. Go to Mobile Video Casting and press OK to change the setting as you’d like.

Note: Mobile casting is turned off by default on X1. On Flex, it’s defaulted to on.

Additional information about mobile casting to your Xfinity Flex Streaming Device, see here: https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/mobile-casting-with-x1-or-flex

Any chance you would add the ability to cast directly from mobile OS? Would be awesome upgrade if I could cast everything to me tv like pics, vids and other apps? Anyway thanks for the free flex!

@ComcastJessie So unless I specifically have one of these products: Arris or Technicolor XB6, Arris or Cisco XB3, I can’t cast to my flex box? My modem/router is NetGear. My screen casting is on, but on YouTube when i go to share my flex device never shows up.

Hello @user_6ca37c! Thank you for reaching out. Correct, you would need to listed modems to be able to successfully cast to your Flex box. I greatly apologize for any inconvenience.

I no longer work for Comcast.

@CCAndrew Is this still not possible?

I do not see any settings within the Flex box settings as to screen sharing or casting.  And although the options for our LG TV or Roku show up as available casting devices, nothing else shows up in regards to the Xfinity Flex box.  Thanks.

Hi, @BlaineBug. Are you attempting to cast content to your Flexbox using the instructions above? If so, are you still running into trouble? You stated the Flex box does not show up as a device you can cast to. Can I have more details about your device and the apps you are attempting to cast?
