Why has my email stopped syncing with my Pixel 2 phone?

At about noon on Sunday, I stopped receiving emails on my Pixel 2 phone running Android 11.  This is a comcast.net email.  I have another comcast.net email that is working properly, as well as 2 Gmail accounts that are working as they should.  So far I have:  shut down and rebooted the phone; soft reset; deleted the cache, and deleted and reinstalled the account.  That last item -- deleting and reinstalling the account -- restored the inbox to the correct state at the time of the reinstall, but no further emails were received.  In addition, I lost access to my email folders after the reinstall -- the folders are there but they are empty.  This is my primary email account and I rely on my phone for emails for days at a time, so this situation is intolerable.  How do I fix this?

My OnePlus 10 Pro 5G (android) phone stopped loading my comcast emails yesterday. I just discovered they still load just fine on my very old Blackberry PRIV. So, comcast is not playing nice with gmail and they need to get that fixed immediately.

I am now having this issue .. started 9/17.  My Comcast email is working on my notebook but on my Pixel 6A it stopped working.  My GMAIL account works on my Pixel.  I am running the latest version of Gmail .. updated on 9/6.  I removed my Comcast account on the phone and tried to set it back up again but now it says it can't create the account.  I know all of the settings are correct because I verified them against the settings on my notebook.  I have had this Comcast account for 25 years and I really need it to work on my phone.  Did something else recently occur in mid September?

As has been noted, this is more of a GMail issue. I just tested with Android Outlook (basic free, not the Office 365 version), and it works.

Agreed.  In the meantime I went into the web mail on Comcast and set up an auto-forward from Comcast to Gmail.  It might be a short-term solution depending on how long it takes to fix.  Maybe it will be my long-term solution.  :|

@user_0c7a45 I can definitely understand the frustration if you are experiencing issues receiving your Comcast email via your Gmail app. Have you already tried reaching out to Gmail support? You may also want to make sure that you have third party email access enabled. You can click here for directions on how to do so.

Also, I checked my Samsung tablet and my Comcast email account stopped synching on 9/16.  If I go to the Gmail app on the tablet and "pull down" to refresh, the circle just spins for a bit and then stops.  No emails are loaded.  So this is clearly NOT a setting that I accidentally changed.  It's a problem with Gmail using "OTHER" types of email accounts (not Gmail, Exchange, 365, etc).  I am apparently on the latest versions of Gmail on both devices so hopefully there's an update coming out soon.

Update:  This doesn't make any sense to me but I noticed that some of the apps on my phone and tablet were acting sluggish.  I also occasionally got a message on my devices saying "your wifi doesn't have access to the internet".  So tonight I unplugged my Comcast router for a bit and plugged it back in.  First thing I noticed was that everything was running faster.  For absolutely no reason I decided to try to enter my Comcast email address into Gmail on my Pixel.  It allowed me to enter it and it's working now.  Then I went to my tablet and reloaded my emails there smoothly.  So the issue with Comcast email going to my phone was partly because of my wifi?  Seems REALLY strange but that's the story.

There can be times where your modem is not quite registered with the Comcast servers. Most sites will be fine, but Comcast may not work. A reboot refreshes the registration. It sometimes happens after local maintenance causes some changes that get everything confused.

It suggests that I could have gone off wifi (and use Verizon for service) and I would have been able to reenter my Comcast email account into GMail.  There was no real reason for me to reset the router but I was doing some process of elimination.  I have been in IT for 35+ years but I would have never thought my Comcast router would interfere with getting Comcast emails on my phone.  Sincerely.  I'm glad it's working and I will reset the router if I see it happen again but I'm still scratching my head a bit.

My Android email app last synced on November 7th at 2:45 ( EST).   Yes I can access my email via web browser.

I can't connect to either IMAP or SMTP server neither can I send or receive on my android's "email" app.  ( Not using gmail... only the generic samsung "email" app)

Is there an outage?

The Same thing is happening on my Samsung Galaxy S22 and my Wife's S20 using the default Mail app. It seems that If I remove and add the account back it works for maybe an 1 hour and then it stops. The last Email I got before this happened was at Nov 7th at 1am, so it seems that IT push a breaking change (Im using IMAP). The Mail app was updated back in July so its not the app.  Seems Xfinity IT is always breaking things and not testing any of there changes!

I have uninstalled the Mail app Reinstalled, Cleared the app Cache. I check the remember my device on the credential screen. None of it seems to fix the issue. After an hour it seems to be stuck. I'm trying to see if there are logs for the app to see if its showing the issue.

Also I'm going to try outlook mobile and see what happens.

The webmail version on the phone sucks. It also does not provide notifications of new mail

My Samsung phone has 3 emails setup, the Gmail, and 2 different Comcast email accounts.

Gmail and 1 of the Comcast accounts is syncing with no issues. The other Comcast account suddenly stopped syncing on Nov 7th at 2:38 AM.

What is the issue? Phone does not appear to be an issue OR my Gmail OR one of the comcast accounts??

Someone please assist to resolve!!

Same issue.  Regular Samsung e-mail.  Delete and reinstall and it works for a short time and then stops syncing.  Desktop and laptop comcast e-mail through a browser works fine.  Samsung S20

All of this sounds similar to what happened with GMail awhile ago. I'm guessing Samsung's email app is just a rebadged version of the Google email core that GMail also uses, and they pushed out an update from that buggy release. Google eventually updated the GMail app to fix it. Samsung probably needs to do the same.

I have no problems using Outlook.

Guys. Try restarting your phone. I ran into the same issue 2 days ago. I deleted and redid my Comcast and it only updated that, but won't continue to sync. So I followed this thread to Gmail trouble shooting. My Gmail is updated so it said to restart and sure enough my phone and Comcast are now friends again

It will only last for a 1 or 2 than back to broken

@Andyross Nope, The app was release in July, this stopped working on Nov 7th. This is a comcast change.

Galaxy s10e suddenly doing the same thing. Can log into Xfinity webmail but won't sync to my android. Tried everything above; fixes for 1 day or less. Each app says it's up to date in the play stores. Gmail works. Comcast doesn't, bottom line.

Both my Samsung phone and tablet have experienced this in the last two days. Last email sync on both was Nov 6.

@shunk

I came across a Samsung thread in which I found a solution that worked!  Thread linked here: Samsung Email app dysfunctioning today Nov 7 2023 - Page 10 - Samsung Community - 2714341

On November 8, 2023 userJnQzSdsKOO recommended the following steps:

"Pull up the Galaxy Store. Search for Samsung email app. When you see the email app symbol it will determine that you already have it on your phone. It will give you the option to "uninstall." Uninstall the email app. Once you uninstall the email app the Galaxy Store will give you the option to "install." Install a fresh copy and put in your email and password where indicated. Presto! Done! Mine worked again immediately."

I will add that the Samsung email app in the app store did show a last update of July 2023 (rather than a more recent day like we all assumed), but for whatever reason that seemed to work as well as ensuring that the box was checked off in Xfinity's settings to allow third-party email providers.
